Jack Piermont

Jack S. Piermont was born in Paterson, NJ, and raised in Fair Lawn, NJ. He received his BA from Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa, and graduated from New York Law School. After being admitted to the New Jersey Bar, he served as a Judge Advocate General in the United States Air Force. Shortly after finishing his commitment, he started to work for Frank Lerner in Jersey City. Mr. Lerner was a sole practitioner with a general practice with emphasis on personal injury, both civil and workers’ compensation.

Over the years of practice, he has tried civil injury cases, workers’ compensation cases, as well as criminal matters, both in Municipal Courts and Superior Court. He has also handled matters in the Chancery Court and Family Court. He is also admitted to practice in the State of New York. He has served as an arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association as well as for the Superior Court of New Jersey.

In the early 1980’s he was made a partner, and the office became Lerner & Piermont. The office had several associates until an outstanding one, Rene Riverol, came along and was made a partner with a name change to Lerner, Piermont & Riverol, PA. The firm has recently again changed to Lerner, Piermont, Riverol & Lawlor, adding Matthew Lawlor as a partner, again due to his being an excellent lawyer.

The firm continues to be in practice, representing clients throughout the State.

Jack was married in 1975 and has still with his wife of over 50 years, has 2 children, one of whom is also a lawyer, and 5 grandchildren. Besides being a lawyer, he also served on the Board of Trustees of Dwight-Englewood School as well as on the Board of Temple B’Nai Or. He served as President of the Temple for 2 years.

He has received several honors over the course of his career, including recently being named the Workers’ Compensation Practitioner of the Year by the Hudson County Bar Association.
